Jake Ruddy, age 82, of rural Redgranite, passed away Thursday, November 10, 2011 at MercyMedicalCenter. He was born to Margaret and Russell Ruddy on March 21, 1929.
Jake was a career serviceman serving his country in the U.S. Marine Corps, U. S. Navy, and the U.S. Army, retiring after 22 years from the U.S. Navy at age 42. Hunting, fishing with his nephew John and his good friend Tom, gardening, playing cards and being with Sam, his golden retriever, were his passions. Jake was always independent but had a heart of gold.
Preceding Jake in death were his parents Margaret and Russell Ruddy; brothers: Owen, Jim, and Merle. He is survived by his sisters: Germaine (and the late John) Kloiber, Ellen (and the late Richard Juedes and George Faust) Faust, and Kathy (Craig) Karkula all of Oshkosh; a brother, Craig (Nancy) Ruddy of Redgranite; and a sister-in-law, Geraldine Ruddy of Seattle, Washington. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at Seefeld Family of Funeral Chapels, 1025 Oregon Street. A time to share memories and support will be held at the funeral chapel from 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, until the time of the service. The service will conclude with full military honors.
