Diane Gibson, 47, of Oshkosh, went to her heavenly home on Monday, May 27th with her family at her side. She was carried home by the angels to rest in the arms of her Savior. Diane's faith and courage during her fight against cancer was an inspiration to all who met her.
Diane was born in Oshkosh on October 21, 1965, the daughter of Jamil and Audrey Roggow. She married the love of her life, her "sweetie bear" Jeff Gibson on September 30, 1995.
Diane graduated from Oshkosh North High School in 1984.
Diane worked as a secretary at a number of places, including Cesa 6, First Congregational Church, and St. John's Lutheran Church.
Diane enjoyed attending concerts and musicals with Jeff. One of her favorites was Daniel O'Donnell. She loved collecting M&M items. She was thrilled to receive a special message and gifts from the M&M headquarters in New York wishing her well. She also received a postcard from Daniel O'Donnell. These things gave Diane joy in her final days.
Diane attended Martin Luther Lutheran Church where she and Jeff sang in the choir. She was a past member of Preceptor Alpha Mu sorority.
Diane is survived by her loving husband, Jeff, her father, Jamil, her mother-in law, Jan Bitter and her husband Charlie, her father-in-law, Peter Gibson and his wife Lynn, her goddaughter, Reanlyn Stanchik and other relatives and friends and her cat,Pumpkin. She was preceded in death by her mother, Audrey.
The family would like to thank the caring staff at the Vince Lombardi Center, her hospice nurse, Jean Boldig and her caring health aide, Tammy Leinen.
A special thank you to Jan & Charlie Bitter for opening their home to care for Diane in her last days. She wanted to be at home surrounded by her family. Thank you also to Charlie & Jan's daughter, Teri White and her family for arranging for Diane to receive Prayers from around the world and acknowledgements from the M&M Company and Daniel O'Donnell.
A celebration of Diane's life will be held at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Oshkosh on Thursday, May 30 at 6:30 PM.
Visitation will be held at the church from 4:00 PM until time of the service.
Interment will be at a private service on Friday at Omro Cemetery
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to Martin Luther Lutheran church for their choir or the Vince Lombardi Cancer Center in Oshkosh.
Diane asked to be remembered as a good and faithful servant of the Lord.
