Obituary

Dick Urban, age 81, of rural Waupaca County, died Wednesday evening, March 9, 2011 at Wisconsin Veterans Home. Born on March 24, 1929 in Fond du Lac to Albert and Esther (VandeZande) Urban, Dick married Mary Crowner in 1953, with whom he had two daughters and later married Arline Arndtson in 1970.
Employed by the State of Wisconsin as a steamfitter, Dick worked on many major building projects before his retirement. He was a member of Steamfitters Union Local #601, enjoyed time writing poetry, flower gardening, listening to polka music, singing, and playing cards. Dick served his country during the Korean War with the U.S. Army as a Military Policeman.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda (Rick) Volkman of Palmer, Alaska, and Sandra (Scott) Negendank of Oshkosh; a sister, Jane Cordie of New Berlin; a brother, Terry (Mary) Urban of Campbellsport; special friends, Jim and Mary Ann Cleary of Elroy, Wisconsin; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding Dick in death is his wife, Arline; his parents; two grandchildren, Nicole Volkman and Nathan Volkman; two brothers, James Urban and Robert Urban; and a sister, Joanne Thill.
