Donald Courter, age 69, of Omro, caring and loving husband, father, grandfather, friend, died unexpectedly Saturday, May 26, 2007. He was born August 30, 1937 in Adams-Friendship, WI the son of John and Tressie (Nelson) Courter. Don married Birdine Kertis on December 20, 1958 in Kellner, Wisconsin. She preceded him in death on May 18, 1990. He then married Barbara Wiese in October of 1992 in Plainfield, WI. Don had worked as a machinist and retired from Rockwell International in Oshkosh.

Don was a true outdoorsman with a love of all of God's creatures. He enjoyed hunting, camping, and cutting and burning his wood. Taking walks with Molly his K-9 friend was a daily occurrence. Deer and turkey hunting were passions Don shared with family and friends. He especially enjoyed hunting up at the cabin with his brother in laws and other family members. He also enjoyed his cars and trucks. Don was a true friend and best neighbor to many, helping with anything and everything. All you needed to do was mention you needed help and Don was right there. Don and Barb also enjoyed vacationing. In recent years, Don learned the art of wine making. He became fairly accomplished at it, and made plenty to be shared with family and friends at Sandi's upcoming wedding.

Don is survived and will be missed by his wife, Barbara; children, Connie (Paul) Belter of Berlin, Gregory (Susan) of Oshkosh, Douglas (Dawn) of Omro, , Gary Weise of Boise, Idaho, Dean (Angela) Wiese of Plainfield, Sandra (Fiancé James Santiago) Wiese of Oshkosh and David (Jacklene) Wiese of Omro; his mother, Tressie Courter of Plainfield; grandchildren, Abigail, Emily, Ethan, Hannah, Kevin, Kyle, Stephanie, Lauren, Ryan, Tia, Joey, Alysa, Daytona, Masson, Ashley and Bryce; sisters, Virginia (Jerry) Hansen of Plainfield and Carol (Laverne) Kertis of Wisconsin Rapids; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many good friends and neighbors. Don was preceded in death by his father, John Courter; wife, Birdine, and sister, Betty Keenlance.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at the Omro Funeral Home from 4-8 P.M. and then again on Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at Grace Lutheran Church, 720 Jackson Ave., Omro from 10 A.M. until the time of the funeral service at 11 A.M. with Rev. Paul Mundinger officiating. Burial will follow in the Omro Cemetery. A memorial in Don's name is being established.
