Donald P. "Joe" Dailey, age 81, of Oshkosh, died Sunday, June 6, 2010, at Froedtert Memorial Hospital in Milwaukee. He was born Sept 27, 1928 in Rushford, son of Joseph and Dorothy (Randall) Dailey. He attended school in Omro, graduating in 1947. On April 11, 1953, he was married to Shirley Silverthorn. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea. After the ceasefire, he started and ran an Officer's Club there. After service he became a plumber and was a member of Local 400. Joe enjoyed country music, going to the casino and he loved to meet and talk to people. He would often tell people about his wonderful childhood growing up in Omro.
Joe is survived by his wife of 57 years, Shirley; daughter, Darlene (Greg) Pasch; sons, DuWayne (Jodi) and Daniel; seven grandchildren, Rachel (Scott) Davis Krebs, Jeremy (Michele) Davis, Jon and Nate Dailey, Alex, Ryan and Rebecca Dailey; 4 great grandchildren, Ethan, Sophia and Autumn Davis Krebs and Alayna Davis. He is further survived by two brothers, James (Eleanor) Dailey, John (Barb) Dailey and two sisters, Phyllis (Tom) Hutte, Jean (Jerry) Schneider; sister in law, Audrey Rolph; brother in law, LaVern (Phyllis) Silverthorn; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Dorothy, and borthers in law, Frank Silverthorn and Lowell Rolph.
In respect to Joe's memory, family and friends will gather on Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 730 Madison Ave., Omro, from 3:00 P.M. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 6:30 P.M. Joe will be laid to rest in the Omro Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established for an Omro High School Scholarship Fund.
