Obituary
Donald Albert Metko, 83, passed away at home in Waukau, Wisconsin, on July 2, 2025. He was born on July 9, 1941, to Albert and Dorothy (Wischow) Metko in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
Don married Shirley Shove on July 14, 1962, and together they raised 2 daughters, Lori and Sue. He worked at Rockwell International as a machinist and retired after 30 years of service.
Don shared his passions with his family and will be remembered for the large decorative rocks he moved by hand that are now a part of his families' landscapes. Don collected antiques and oddities that were beautifully displayed in the garage and yard. He had a great respect and interest for the Native Americans and their culture.
In his younger years, he liked to hunt, travel on motorcycles and snowmobiles. Don was an unforgettable man, brave yet humble. He was always willing to help out anyone he could when needed. He loved spending time in nature. Losing a leg did not slow him down.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Shirley Metko; daughters, Lori (Kurt) Hinz and Sue Metko; grandson, Jordan (Brienna) Metko; great-grandson, Fisher Metko; as well as many friends and great neighbors.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Albert and Dorothy Metko; and sister, Barbara (Robert) Burgess.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 15, at Kwiatkowski Funeral Home, 425 Jefferson Ave. Omro, WI with a visitation from 1pm until 3pm and service to follow, officiated by Pastor Karl Kramer.
Per his wishes, cremation has taken place.
