Obituary

Donald K. Roeder, age 83, of Oshkosh, died Tuesday evening, October 9, 2012, at Park View Health Center. Born on August 31, 1929, in Oshkosh, to Walter and Jane (Rabik) Roeder, Don married Virginia White in 1953 at Algoma United Methodist Church.
He was employed by Pepsi-Cola Company as a vending attendant and was later in the marketing/sales department until his retirement in 1994 after 34 years. Not one to be retired, Don was employed in security at Wittman Airport, worked at Utica Golf Course, and truly enjoyed being a sales representative at Sear's. Hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and tour traveling were favorite activities of Don's.
During WWII, Don enlisted with the U.S. Navy and served honorably until his discharge in April of 1947. A graduate of Oshkosh High School, Don attended Oshkosh State College. During his younger days, Don, was a well-known player for the Oshkosh Comets Football Team.
Left to mourn his passing is his wife of 59 years, Virginia Roeder of Oshkosh; three sons, Rodney K Roeder of West Lake, Oregon, Rick (Penny) Roeder of Oshkosh, and Donald K. (Veronica) Roeder of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; six grandchildren, Amy and Renee Roeder of Oshkosh, Kelsey and Kyle Roeder of Springfield, Oregon, and Alex and Avery Roeder of Murfreesboro; a sister, Beverly Plein of Tampa, Florida; two sisters-in-law, Mary Krueger of Oshkosh and Helen (Ken) Joos of Chapel Hill, South Carolina; a special cousin, Roy Roeder of Oshkosh; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceding Don in death are his parents and two brothers-in-law, David White and John Plein.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2012, at 4:00 p.m. in Seefeld Family of Funeral Chapels, 1025 Oregon Street, with Reverend Jakes Voker officiating. Interment will be held in Zoar Cemetery at a later date. A time of visiting and sharing of memories will be held on Saturday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the funeral chapel. Don's family extends a special thank you to the nurses and staff of Park View Health Center for the wonderful care given to Don during these past months.
