Obituary

Donald "Don" C. Schoenick, age 88, passed away on November 06, 2023, with his family by his side. He was born on March 25, 1935, to parents, Louis and Kathryn (Felker)m Schoenick, in Wisconsin.

Don married the love of his life, Dawn, on July 27, 1957, at Grace Lutheran Church. They were able to spend sixty-six wonderful years together. They originally met through friends while bowling. This was a favorite pastime that continued into retirement.

He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening. They often went to their cottage to spend quality family time and share fish fries. Don and Dawn traveled extensively throughout the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Hawaii, Alaska, and Nova Scotia. For many years he and his grandson Brett participated in the annual Audubon bird count in Winnebago County, which was submitted to the national registry.

Don was a very active member at Grace Lutheran Church for his entire life. For many years, he and Dawn helped to host the annual church fish fry with friends. He held the office of the Head of Stewardship Committee at one point and was active in Men's Club. Don worked for the City of Oshkosh Street Deparment up to retirement. Prior to that, he worked for Swift & Company, in their Oshkosh facility.

Survivors include his wife, Dawn (Spiegelberg) Schoenick; his children, Ann Marie (Bob) Leitl Nickodem, and Linda (Chris) Ringenoldus; two grandchildren, Brett (Kelcey) Leitl, and Cate Ringenoldus; three great-grandchildren, Jackson, Kennedy, and Kinley Leitl; sisters, Marlene Dettlaff and Doralee (Ray) Smithson; and many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
