Obituary
Donna Mae (Dies) Sorenson, age 71, of Oshkosh, passed away on Tuesday, May 18, 2004 at Aurora Medical Center. Donna was born in Wittenberg, Wisconsin on October 17, 1932. She was the daughter of Henry and Emma Dies. She married Henry "Hank" Sorenson in Oshkosh, September 2, 1954.
Donna was a member of St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, belonging to the Women's Friendship Group, LAFF, and the Altar Guild. She was treasurer of the local branch of AAL/Thrivent, assisting with many fundraisers. Donna and Hank were avid bowlers in singles and doubles leagues for many years. Donna was a member of Elk Ladies #292, Friends of the Oshkosh Convention and Visitors Bureau, and volunteered for the EAA Housing hotline for many years.
Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Hank; two sons, Scott (Kelly) Sorenson, and Kurt (Cindy) Sorenson; a daughter, Stacy (Dennis) Resop; seven grandchildren, Ian, Evan and Cameron Sorenson, Kent Sorenson, Matthew, Sarah and Eric Abraham; a brother, Walter (Brenda) Dies; and a brother-in-law, Robert Ruedinger. Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive Donna. Donna once said, "All I ever wanted in life was to be married, have children and grandchildren." Her life was fulfilled. Preceding Donna in death were her parents and a sister, Doris Jean Ruedinger.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. at St. Andrew"s Lutheran Church, 1100 East Murdock Avenue, with Reverend Karen Jewell officiating. Interment will follow at Lake View Memorial Park. Family and friends may gather from 10:30 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the church.
Memorials in Donna's memory are requested to the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life, as Donna had a long and courageous battle with cancer. Donna's family is grateful to Dr. William Weber and Judy Brockman Nurse Practitioner, Agnesian Healthcare Central Wisconsin Cancer Program, the Emergency Room and ICU Staff at Aurora Health Center for the care and support they have given to Donna and the family. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
