Dorene L. Empereur passed away on February 9, 2016 at Omro Care Center, surrounded by her family. Dorene was born January 13, 1931, to Edward and Marie Schumann. She married Anthony W. Empereur on April 25, 1953, and later divorced in 1977. Dorene graduated from Oshkosh High School, and worked at JCPenney, making window displays. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, dogs, playing cards, and going to the casino. Dorene is best known for her artistic talent; she sold numerous paintings throughout her life. Many have enjoyed her artwork that was displayed at local restaurants. Dorene traveled all over the United States, and was a care giver for many years.Dorene is survived by her daughter, Sherie (Alan) Gerner of Hawaii; son, Michael (JoNell) Empereur of Omro; grandchildren: Sarah (Ryan) Zimmerman of California, Sean (Michelle) Gerner of Arizona, Dr. Jesse Berry of California, Steven Empereur of Oshkosh, Mikaela Empereur of Stevens Point; great-grandchildren: Kiera, Kaden, Elliot, Violet; sister, Mary Ellen (Vince) Ulrich; sister in law, Judy Schumann and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert and a brother in infancy.A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 12, 2016, at 7:00 p.m., at Kwiatkowski Funeral Home, with Rev. Richard Bartholomew officiating. Friends and guests will be received at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
