Doris Arvilla Abts (nee Sivesind), rejoined the love of her life, the late William Frank Abts, Tuesday, April 1, 2008. She was the deeply loved mother of Christine McLaughlin (Milwaukee) and Karen (Larry) Springer of Oshkosh; dearest grandmother of Casey (Heather) Springer, Molly Springer and Anne, George, and Elizabeth McLaughlin; and delighted great-grandmother of Mason, Mitchell, and William Springer. She also leaves behind her adored younger siblings Dorothy (Jack) Foss of Coos Bay, Oregon, and David (Tammy) Sivesind of Naperville, Illinois, and their children and grandchildren. Another brother, Donald Sivesind, predeceased her.
A registered nurse, Doris trained at Fairview Hospital in Minnesota. Later, she worked at St. Michael and Columbia hospitals in Milwaukee. For her entire life, she took good care of everyone around her, making both people and things shine.
She was born in August 6, 1921, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Her mother, Ethel Duffy Sivesind Neimeyer, died young, and she was raised in Oregon by her grandparents, Joseph and Tina Berg Duffy, and her aunts Violet and Florence. As a teenager, she returned to Inwood, Iowa, to live with her father, Otto Sivesind, her stepmother, Martha, and her beloved half brothers and sister.
Doris will be missed by other relatives and friends in Glendale, on Idlewild Street in Whitefish Bay, the Whitefish Bay Women's Club, Fox Point Evangelical Lutheran Church, and in Oshkosh, the Wesley Methodist Church and Carmel Residence. Doris and her family thank the wonderful staff of Gabriel's Villa for providing a good place to live--and at the end, love as well as care. Interment at Graceland Cemetery and a memorial service will be held in Milwaukee at a later date. Condolences may be given online at www.seefeldfuneral.com
And did you get what you wanted from this life, even so? I did.
And what did you want? To call myself beloved, to feel myself beloved on the earth.
