Obituary
Doris V. Armbruster, age 92, of Appleton, died Saturday evening, May 31, 2008 at Manor Care. She was born on January 5, 1916 near Fremont, Wisconsin to Edward and Luella (Thomas) Gabel. On June 5, 1937, Doris married Leonard A. Armbruster at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Berlin, Wisconsin.
Doris was a graduate of Berlin High School and the Green Lake County Normal School. She taught school in Borth, Wisconsin, Bloomfield, Wisconsin, and Helskell, Tennessee. From 1942 to 1970, Doris and Leonard lived in the Helskell, Tennessee area, where they owned and operated Ridge Roofing and Sheet Metal. Upon Leonard's death on March 22, 1970, Doris returned to Wisconsin to live. She is a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Appleton, a member of Sweet Adeline's, and an auxiliary member of Knights of Columbus.
Left to mourn her passing is a brother, Duane (Corinne) Gabel of Appleton; nieces and nephews, Steven (Sara) Gabel of Minneapolis, Barbara (Zach Zachowski) Gabel of Oakland, California, Brian Gabel of Oakland, California, Maribeth (Howie) Phillips of Prescott, Arizona, Merlin Silverthorn of Mountain View, California, Betty Sedarski, Helen Sedarski, Bernard (Louise) Sedarski, other nieces and nephews; and two cousins, Janet (Olin) Mead of Appleton and Betty Jane Rasmussen of Oshkosh. Preceding Doris in death are her husband, parents, a brother, William Gabel, and a sister, Elizabeth Silverthorn.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in Seefeld Family of Funeral Chapels, 1025 Oregon Street, Oshkosh, with Reverend Don Zuleger of St. Bernadette Catholic Church officiating. A time of visitation and sharing of memories will be held on Thursday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. in the funeral chapel. Interment will take place in Riverside Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy in Doris' memory may be made to St. Bernadette Catholic Church, the American Heart Association, or the American Cancer Society.
