Doris B. Boreen, age 93, of Oshkosh, passed away peacefully at Mercy Medical Center Tuesday afternoon October 26, 2004. She was born in Tigerton, Wisconsin November 5, 1910 to the late Fred and Sarah (Fink) Woodworth. Doris married Floyd H. Boreen on June 6, 1938 in Oshkosh and he preceded her in death on January 20, 1963.
Doris worked at Biers Bakery in the 1940's and was well known and loved for all the wonderful and tasty baking she did for her family and friends. She did a lot of baby-sitting in the 1950's and 1960's as she had a great love for children.
Surviving Doris is one daughter: Beverly (Thomas) Boettcher of Oshkosh; one son: Gary (Yvonne) Boreen of Larsen; one granddaughter: Becky Jo (John) Dorn of Neenah; two great-grandsons: Shawn and Cory Dorn; and one brother: Raymond Woodworth of Oshkosh. She is further survived by many loving nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Preceding Doris in death is her husband; three sisters: Violet Dolan, Evelyn Manske, and Etta Dunham; one brother: Clifford Woodworth; and her faithful pet cat of 19 years, Freckles.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 29, 2004 at 1:30 p.m. in Seefeld Family of Funeral Chapels, 1025 Oregon Street, with Reverend Philip DeWitt and Chaplain Dottie Mathews co-officiating. Interment will follow at Lake View Memorial Park. Family and friends may call on Friday from 11:00 to 1:30 p.m. at the funeral chapel. A memorial is being established in Doris' memory by her family.
The family would like to thank the many loving and caring people who helped care for Doris in her two week stay at Mercy Medical Center, especially all the sweet nurses and many doctors. A special thank you to Dr. Woodruff and his staff for the many years of wonderful care and compassion. You are all great people. God bless you all.
