Obituary

Dorothea Alta Delores Costello, 84 years, left this world gently and peacefully on Tuesday March 14, 2017, at Webster Manor in Omro, WI to join her sweetheart in heaven. She was born on November 1, 1932 the daughter of Fredrick and Alta (Bornmann) Lange in Portage, WI. On February 27, 1954 she was united in marriage to Paul Costello at St. Mary's Chapel in Omro. Their marriage was blessed with six children. She was employed as a nurse's aide at Parkview Health Center in Oshkosh.She was a wonderful woman, so strong, loving, and devoted to family. Dorothea's greatest source of joy in this life was that of family, spending much of her time with her kids and grandkids, and always there when they needed her or just to have fun. She enjoyed gardening, playing cards, Packer games, was a wonderful cook and a very talented seamstress. In her retirement years she volunteered at Omro Food Pantry, enjoyed bowling, fishing trips to Canada and traveling with Paul. She was a very active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, in the choir, President of St. Mary's Ladies Organization, and funeral chairperson for several years.Dorothea is survived by her children: Marie (Al) Brooks of Janesville, WI, Patricia (Michael) Demps of Long Beach, CA, William (Carrie) of Omro, WI, Jean (John) Schmitz of Dousman, WI and Mark (Steven Throw) of Chicago, IL.; grandchildren: Elizabeth (Charles) Redman, Sharon and Betty Costello, Dustin (Megan), Janelle (Steven Lund) and Lauren (Corey) Brooks, Jessica, Morgan and Tyler Costello, Katie and Sara Schmitz, step-grandchildren: Nicolas (Rachel) Demps, Carmen Plutshack, Ryan and Taylor Throw; great-grandchildren Johnathan and Hailey Redman, and Eleanor Lund; step great-grandchildren: Legend Demps, Brittany, Chelsey, Kaitlin and Tori; step great great-grandson, Lennox; sisters-in-law; plus several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul in 2000; son, Steven; sisters: Mildred Carpenter and Caroline Brandt; and brothers: Fredrick and Rueben Lange.Funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 31, 2017 at ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 730 Madison Ave. Omro. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday, March 30, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the mass. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery, Township of Poygan. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Dorothea's name is being established.Dorothea's family would like to express their sincerest thanks and appreciation to the staff at Webster Manor Assisted Living, and the staff at Affinity Visiting Nurses & Hospice for all of their wonderful care, kindness and support given to their mother.
