Obituary

Dorothy Loretta Egan, age 99, of Omro, died Thursday, November 18, 2004 at Mercy Medical Center. She was born January 13, 1905 in Oshkosh the daughter of Max and Katherine (Yost) Loewen. She had attended school in Oshkosh and Omro. On February 22, 1922 she married Edward J. Egan at St. MaryÂ's Catholic Church, Omro, WI., with Rev. William Grace officiating. The wedding was delayed due to the memorable sleet storm that stopped most activities. The EganÂ's made their home on a dairy farm south of Omro. They enjoyed 52 years of married life prior to EdwardÂ's death in 1974.

Dorothy is survived by one son: Robert (Dorothy) Egan of Omro, two daughters: Mary Jane (the late Harold) Fox of Fond du Lac, and Sister Sylvia Egan (Eileen) of Omro, one daughter-in-law: Mary Catherine (OÂ'Rielly) Locke, one son-in-law: Joseph Binder of Pickett, two sisters: Ethel (the late Earl) Beahm of Omro, Betty (the late Claude) Emerson of South Dakota, and two sisters-in-law: Grace Egan & Mary Egan. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister: Mildred (Melvin) Abitz, two sons: Infant Joseph in 1926, James O. Egan in 1960 and one daughter: Kathryn Binder in 2001. Dorothy lived to see five generations of her family. She has 27 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren and 6 great, great grandchildren.

Dorothy enjoyed music, having played the organ for many weddings and funerals at St. MaryÂ's Catholic Church in Omro and Winneconne and Poygan. She enjoyed traveling and made several overseas trips with her daughter Sister Sylvia. She was a long time member of St. MaryÂ's Catholic Church in Omro, St. MaryÂ's Bible Study Group and was a past member of the Altar Society.

Visitation will be held on Monday (Today), November 22, 2004 at the Omro Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 7:30 p.m and then again on Tuesday, November 23, 2004 at St. MaryÂ's Catholic Church in Omro from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Joseph Mattern officiating. Burial will follow in the Omro Cemetery.

A memorial in DorothyÂ's name has been established for the Sisters of The Sorrowful Mother-Franciscan Courts, 815 S. Westhaven, Oshkosh, WI 54904.
