Dorothy J. "Dot" Evanson, age 83, of Oshkosh, died Tuesday afternoon, October 5, 2004 at Encore Senior Villa. She was born in Menominee, Michigan on March 24, 1921 to Martin and Alice (Stropahl) Anderson. Dot married Walter D. Evanson on May 27, 1950 in Oshkosh and he preceded her in death on January 24, 2004.
Dot was employed by Bell Machine Company as a bookkeeper from 1944 to 1950. She is a member of First Church of Christ Scientist in Oshkosh, was on the Board of Directors for Campfire Girls, and the Lamplighter Dance Club. Dot and her husband, Walter, founded and operated the Amvoy Travel Club. She was a graduate of Oshkosh High School, class of 1939. Dot enjoyed bowling, dancing, sewing, piano playing, gardening, baking, and knitting.
Survivors include two sons: Martin (Terry) Evanson of Madison and Leonard Evanson of Boise, Idaho; one daughter: Carole (Bruce) Carroll of Madison; one granddaughter: Cara Evanson. In addition to her husband, Dot is preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 8, 2004 at 12:00 p.m. in Seefeld Family of Funeral Chapels, 1025 Oregon Street. Entombment will be at Lake View Memorial Park following the services. Family and friends may call on Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the funeral chapel. Memorial tributes are requested to Alzheimer Foundation or First Church of Christ Scientist in Oshkosh.
