Dorothy M. Woldt, age 95, of Oshkosh, died Thursday, January 6, 2011, at her home. Born on February 3, 1915, in Oshkosh, to August and Metha (Hasley) Woldt, Dorothy was highly educated, obtaining a Masters Degree in English. She attended 13 different colleges, graduating from UW-Madison, Northwestern University, and St. Hilda's College in Oxford, England. She taught high school English in Illinois, Michigan and at Oshkosh High School before retiring in 1965.
A world traveler, Dorothy enjoyed distant lands and cultures, having traveled to 30 different countries. As a young college student, Dorothy visited Japan and wrote of her travels in an exclusive article for the Oshkosh Northwestern. She was also an avid reader and loved to sew. Dorothy was a long-time member of Peace Lutheran Church.
Left to mourn her passing are a brother, Dr. John (Harriet) Woldt of Fort Worth, Texas, two sisters, MaryAnn Edmonds of Oshkosh, and Elizabeth Heidbrink of Portland, Oregon, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Preceding Dorothy in death are her parents, two brothers, Richard and Robert Woldt, two brothers-in-law, Richard C. Edmonds and Rev. John C. Heidbrink, and a sister-in-law, Phyllis Woldt.
