DuWayne A. "Granny" Grunske, age 74, of Oshkosh, passed away at home, surrounded by the love of his family on Monday, December 26, 2011. He was born in Oshkosh, on January 13, 1937 to Reuben and Grace (Phillipps) Grunske. On August 24, 1957 he married Alice Schmidt in the first wedding to take place at Faith Lutheran Church, where they are still members. DuWayne loved his family very much, he enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports and going to their activities. He enjoyed camping and traveling with family and friends. DuWayne was a hard worker, he farmed on his grandfather's dairy farm, worked for 34 years and retired from Oshkosh Truck Corp., and drove star route delivery for the US Post Office.
DuWayne is loved and will be sadly missed by his wife of 54 years, Alice of Oshkosh; children, Karen Grunske, Sally (Steven) Weigandt, Mike (special friend, Prudy Unmuth) Grunske and Steven (Amy) Grunske, all of Oshkosh; his grandchildren, Breanna, Ryan, Paige, Jacob, Adam and Steven; his brother, Rodney (Darlene) Grunske of Omro; several nieces and nephews; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter in law, Shelly.
Family and friends will gather on Thursday, December 29, 2011, at the funeral home from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and again at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1745 Ohio St., on Friday, December 30, 2011, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Don Forss officiating. DuWayne will be laid to rest at Lake View Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
