Eddie L. Torrence-Gay, age 55, of Oshkosh, died Thursday morning, May 12, 2011, at his home. Born on August 8, 1955 in Millen, Georgia to Allen and Mary (Daughtry) Gay, Eddie married Alma Wiggs on February 7, 1997, in Oshkosh. Eddie was a people-person who enjoyed time spent fishing, gardening and carnivals.
Surviving family members include his wife, Alma Gay; three sons, Chicocaro Smith, Travis Wiggs, and Marty Wiggs; nine grandchildren; his father; ten siblings, Larry (Beneda) Gay, Duwelle Torrence, Diane Dawson, Bobby Torrence, Mary (Reggie) Dozier, Darain (Joyce) Torrence, Christy (Darrell) Stephens, Anthony (Landa) Torrence, Ann Torrence, and Franklin Torrence; his step-father, Willie Marvin Torrence; half brother, William Torrence; mother-in-law, Eva Mae Hobson; sister-in-law, Nancy King Chishom; and a host of nieces and nephews. Preceding Eddie in death is on brother, Lee Marvin Torrence and a sister, Denise Torrence.
A memorial funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. in Victory Baptist Church, 608 Jefferson Street. A time of visiting and sharing of memories will be held on Thursday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service at the church.
