Edgar G. Lenz, age 84, of Oshkosh, died Monday evening, February 6, 2006 at Mercy Medical Center. He was born on February 22, 1921 in Oshkosh to Oscar and Barbara (Robl) Lenz. Edgar married Lorraine Felker on April 23, 1949 in Oshkosh and she preceded him in death on October 3, 2001.
Edgar joined the National Guard in November of 1938 and went to active Army status in 1940 during WWII. After the war Edgar maintained his active National Guard status until his retirement. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church; Past-President of Island View Retriever Club; Life-member of Wisconsin Amateur Field Trial Club; Winnebago Red Arrow Club; and K-B Club. Edgar enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, rock collecting, and gardening.
Survivors include two sons: Danny (Carol) Lenz and Jerry Lenz; one daughter: Jean (Gordon) Manske; nine grandchildren: Dawn (Don) Betler, Connie (Jon) Hansen, Jenny (Chad) Longworth, Jessica (Mike) Piper, Alyssa Lenz, Nicholas Lenz, Jeremy Lenz, Todd Wojciechowski, and Troy (Angela) Wojciechowski; four great-grandsons and four great-granddaughters; a brother: Dale (Jeanine) Lenz; a sister: Elaine Miller; and his loyal black lab companion: Joey.
Preceding Edgar in death are his wife, parents, one daughter: Barbara Wojciechowski, a brother: Russell Lenz, and a sister: Hope Gerstmeyer.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 10, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in Zion Lutheran Church, 400 North Sawyer Street, with Reverend Jeffrey Knoll officiating. A time of visitation and support will be held on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Seefeld Family of Funeral Chapels, 300 N. Eagle Street, and from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church on Friday. Interment will follow the services at Lake View Memorial Park where military honors will be given.
