Edgar W. "Eddie" Salisbury of Oshkosh passed away peacefully on Friday June 6, 2008 after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease. He was 79. He was born Dec. 28, 1928 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Lynn and Alta (Mickle) Salisbury. Edgar attended Washington High School in Milwaukee and graduated in June 1946. Edgar was an alumnus of the University of Wisconsin Madison, graduating in 1950 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Dairy Science. Edgar worked for many years for the State of Wisconsin Department of Agriculture as a Food and Dairy inspector. Edgar also served his country as a U.S. Army private during the Korean War. On November 5, 1955, Edgar married Nancy Holt. They enjoyed 47 years of marriage until her death in July of 2001. During his life, Edgar enjoyed many hobbies. He was an avid Harley Davidson enthusiast when he was young. Edgar was a member of the Berlin Boat Club and as commodore, was instrumental in the Eureka Lock refurbishing project in the mid 1970's.
Edgar is survived by a son, Steven (Tricia) Salisbury of Janesville, and two daughters Sharon (Steven) Hansen, and Paula Salisbury both of Oshkosh. He is further survived by three grandchildren Eliza Salisbury, and Christopher and Kylie Hansen all of Oshkosh, two sisters-in-law, Mary Holt of Milwaukee and Jane Biesterfeld of Wautoma, a brother-in-law, Gary (Barb) Holt, other relatives and many very dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Ellsworth Salisbury, his wife Nancy, and an infant daughter, Cindy.
Eddie's family wishes to send a sincere thank you to the entire staff of Centennial Inn Assisted Living Community. Their dedication, caring and love for Eddie were much appreciated both by him and the family.
A memorial service celebrating Eddie's life will be held on Sunday, June 8, 2008 at 2:00 pm at the Seefeld Family of Funeral Chapels, 300 N. Eagle Street with the Reverend Eric Quinney-Burnard officiating. Family and friends may call at the Seefeld Eagle Street Chapel on Sunday from 12 until the time of service.
