Edna B. Kossel, age 98, of Oshkosh, died Friday, May 5, 2006 at Bethel Home. She was born on February 12, 1908 in Champagne, Illinois to Thomas J. and Mary M. (Fitzsimmons) Thomas. Edna married Frank Olejnik, who preceded her in death, and later married Elmer A. Kossel, who also preceded her in death on June 12, 1981. Edna was a member of St. Andrew Evangelical Lutheran Church. She enjoyed card playing, traveling (especially to Florida for the winter), and driving her car.
Survivors include a daughter, Elaine (Donald) Gibson of Oshkosh; a son, Frank Olejnik of San Diego, California; three stepsons, Howard (Doris) Kossel of Oshkosh, Robert (Elaine) Kossel of Oshkosh, and Richard Kossel of Arkansas; 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 8 great great-grandchildren. Preceding Edna in death are her husbands, a son, Edward Olejnik, step-daughters: Evelyn Magnesales and Irene Fiarito, four sisters, and three brothers.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 8, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Andrew Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1100 East Murdock Street, with Reverend Karen Jewell officiating. Interment will take place in Ellenwood Cemetery following services. A time of visitation and support will be held on Monday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Diabetes Association. A special thank you to the nurses and staff of Bethel Home 1 West for the care given to Edna during her stay there.
