Edward Baumgarten, of Oshkosh, WI was found deceased on May 12, 2025 in his home at the age of 79. He was born to Rev. Edmund E. and Marie (Spreuer) Baumgarten on July 11, 1945 in Wausau. He was baptized as an infant and confirmed his Christian faith during his pre-teen years.

Edward spent his childhood with his surviving brothers Paul, Thomas (Paula Jean) and Jonathan (Marion) in rural Pella and Leland, Wisconsin. He graduated from Prairie du Sac High School in 1963.

After graduating Edward  enrolled at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa for one year before transferring to the University of Wisconsin in Madison. He graduated in 1968 with a degree in Information Technology. While at the UW, Edward also became a member of  Mensa International.

Edward began his career by enlisting in the United States Air Force for four years (1968-1972). He served as an Information Technology Consultant and Computer Programer. At the end of his four year enlistment Edward had risen to the grade of E-5.

Edward's military service was followed by a Consultantship at the FBI in Washington DC where he was a member of a team that was developing an electronic fingerprinting system. That project was followed by consulting positions at Amtrak where he worked with a team that was developing switching systems for Penn Station in New York as well as stations in Philadelphia and Baltimore.  He also tested updates to the Taiwanese air traffic control system.

A graveside funeral service will be held at Lake View Memorial Park Veteran's Garden, 2786 Algoma Blvd, Oshkosh, WI, on May 28, 2025 at 1:00 pm
