Obituary

Edward G. Hoeft, age 80, of Omro, died Sunday, December 25, 2005 at Mercy Medical Center. He was born January 10, 1925 in Oshkosh, the only child of Sylvester and Edna (Chamberlain) Hoeft. Ed married Lois Lautenschlager on December 7, 1946 at Zion Lutheran Church in Oshkosh. Ed had worked for the City of Oshkosh as a bus driver and also had worked as a truck driver. After his retirement, Ed worked at the State Hospital. He tenderly and meticulously cared for his 200 apple trees, which he pruned, sprayed and harvested yearly. Ed thoroughly enjoyed any fishing, but especially trout fishing. He also enjoyed hunting and spending time at his cabin in Waushara County.

Ed is loved and will be missed by his wife of 59 years, Lois of Omro; sons, Terrel of Rice Lake, WI., Rick (Joanne Raimann-Hoeft) of Oshkosh and Curt of Menomonie; grandchildren, Kelly Hoeft of Madison, Whitney and Casey Hoeft of Oshkosh, Tyson Hoeft who is currently serving in the U.S. Military, Carey (Jason) Anhorn-Hoeft of Eau Claire; great granddaughter, Ivy Anhorn-Hoeft; aunt, Ruth Anderson of Clearwater, Florida; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Ryan; and step-father, Gilbert Cornelius.

In respect to Ed's memory, a visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2005 at the funeral home in Omro from 4:00 P.M. until the time of the funeral service at 7:00 P.M. with Rev. Paul Mundinger officiating. Memorials in Ed's name may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association.
