Obituary

Edwin L. Christenson passed away on June 29, 2026, at Country Villa in Omro, WI, after a gradual battle with dementia. He was born on June 4, 1943, in Kenosha, WI to parents, Leland and Dorothy (Miles) Christenson.
He was married to LeeAnn (Leinweber) for over 30 years until they divorced, they had five children.
Eddie was a lifelong learner and started his education career in a one room schoolhouse in Door County, WI. Eddie graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School, then attended Lakeland College in Sheboygan, then later went on to graduate from UWO with a degree in business. He worked mainly in the liquor distribution business his entire life, working for Ed Phillips and Sons as well as General Beverage in Oshkosh until his retirement.
He was a collector of books and eventually amassed over 4,000 books in his eclectic library. His biggest passion was Sherlock Holmes mysteries. He was a Schilling Holder in the Baker’s Street Irregulars (BSI) and attended many BSI Conventions in NYC over the years. He was also a regular attendee at local Sherlockian meetings in Sheboygan. Eddie is even credited with contributing to the book “A Sherlock Holmes Almanac.”
In addition to his intellectual pursuits, he enjoyed playing softball in Omro and Oshkosh, even into his 50s. He also enjoyed bowling leagues in Omro for many years. Eddie attended several churches in the Omro and Oshkosh area over the years.
Eddie is survived by his daughter, Kelly (Jay) Kargus; step-children, Kim (Bill Harron) Kramer and Andrew (Carrie Leudtke) Jones; brother, Dennis (Connie) Christenson; sisters, Barbara Radden and Linda (David) Croft; grandchildren, Kristie Kargus, Jordan (Lauren) Kargus, John (Bree) Hoeft III, James (Hannah) Hoeft, Miles Christenson, Marley Christenson; great-granddaughter, Melanie Hoeft; as well as son-in-law, John Hoeft II and former daughter-in-law, Tina Hanagan. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
He is preceded by his parents; sister, Patsy Chaplin; daughter, Melanie Hoeft; sons, Kevin Christenson, Charlie Christenson and infant son, Kirk Christenson.
Per his wishes, no formal ceremony will be held.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Country Villa in Omro for their exceptional care and attention as well as to Moments Hospice for keeping him comfortable in his final days.
He leaves us with a favorite message – “The game is afoot!”
