Elfrieda M. Ziegenhagen, age 95, died on Saturday, October 12, 2013, at Aurora Medical Center. She was a lifelong resident of Oshkosh, born on January 27, 1918, at the farm home in the Township of Nekimi, the daughter of William and Hulda (Klabunde) Wachholz. On September 7, 1940, she married Harold F. "Ziggy" Ziegenhagen in Oshkosh. He had been President of the People's Brewing Company. Ziggy preceded Elfrieda in death on November 9, 1989.
The enjoyment of her yard of trees, flowers, outdoor living, and care of her home, meant much to Elfrieda. She had a passion for doll collecting along with antiques. The times spent with friends playing cribbage and studying the Bible were very special to her. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church. Elfrieda had a rich life, a reflection of her devoted marriage and a result of the special relationships with friends and neighbors. She cherished the love and support freely shared by many wonderful people. A debt of gratitude is extended to Dr. Blaha for his loving care.
Her nephew, David Nolte; special grandnephew and dear godchild, Eric Nolte; grandnieces, Shelby Nolte and Joy Nolte; great grandnieces and great grandnephews, Brody, Josie, Mason, Hannah, Payton, and Ruth; special friends, Laurie Fischer and Carla Altepeter; and a good neighbor, DuWayne Unbehaun survive her. Preceding Elfrieda in death are her parents; a sister, Ruby Nolte; and a brother, Milton Abitz.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2013, at 7:00 p.m. in Seefeld Funeral Chapels, 1025 Oregon Street, with Reverend John Warzola-Dumke officiating. Entombment will take place at Lake View Memorial Park. A time of visiting and sharing of memories will be held on Thursday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
