Elizabeth "Beth" A. Powell, 75, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at Aurora Medical Center in Oshkosh.
Born Elizabeth Kempfer, Beth was the oldest of seven children born to Gerald and Dolores (née Stockfisch) Kempfer. She attended Hartford Union High School and went on to complete a degree in secondary education from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
On February 7, 1976, Beth married the love of her life, James Powell, and the couple settled in his hometown of Philadelphia, PA. 10 months later, Beth gave birth to their oldest daughter, Sarah, and eight years later, she gave birth to their youngest daughter, Rachel.
Beth had one of the kindest and most loving hearts and a smile that rarely left her face. While she preferred to live her life close to home, she lived her life to the fullest. She understood the important things in life (kindness, empathy, and love) and doled them out to everyone she met.
Beth loved music, puzzles, and good games of Scrabble, Solitaire, Sorry, and War. She loved long car rides through beautiful new places, appreciating the flowers, trees, and architecture. Beth loved watching the Brewers, Bucks, and Packers on TV and celebrating a win or bemoaning a loss. Besides her family, holidays were what truly made Beth happy, her greatest joy was decorating the house for all holidays, but specifically Halloween and Christmas.
Beth is survived by her daughter, Rachel; siblings, Jenny (Dan) Wells, Jon (Xiao) Kempfer, Joel (Linda) Kempfer, Andy (Renee) Kempfer, and Mary (Ken) Mitchell. Beth is also survived by her best friend of 55+ years, Ruth Frieburger, and surrogate family Amanda, Sarah, and Patrick Webb, as well as their two dogs, Bruno and Albus, who brought much joy, love, and laughter to Beth's life.
Beth was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James; daughter, Sarah; and sister, Amy.
Per Beth's wishes, there will be no memorial service, but for those who loved her, please remember the special times you had with her and the joyful person she was.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be greatly appreciated to offset funeral and medical costs.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and support staff at Aurora Medical Center in Oshkosh, as well as Aurora BayCare in Green Bay, for the exceptional and compassionate care given to Beth during her final weeks. The family would also like to thank Father Tom and Father Ben from St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church for visiting with Beth and preparing her for her journey from this world to Heaven.
