Obituary

Elizabeth B. Schroeder age 98, of Oshkosh died at Evergreen Creekview on Saturday, October 22, 2005. She was born in Stevens Point on April 29, 1907 to August and Antonine (Korda) Kirschling. When she was 19 years old she moved to Oshkosh. Then in 1930 she married Walter Schroeder in Custer, Wisconsin. He preceded her in death on June 29, 1986.

Elizabeth was hard working, independent, and active. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church for many years. Her husband Walter was Captain of the Oshkosh fire department, causing her to be involved in the Fireman's Ladies Auxiliary. She raised three children, and worked for many years at St. Mary's Nursing Center as a nurse's aide and also at Marion Home.

Elizabeth is survived by her children: Donald (Arlene) Schroeder of Oshkosh, Lyle (Sheryl) Schroeder of Madison, and Carol (Arthur) Schneider of North Wales, Pennsylvania; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her sisters: Ann Sweeney and Bertha Beam, and brothers: Melvin and Gregory Kirschling. She is preceded in death by siblings: Gertrude Gosh, Grace Dahlman, Evelyn Schettl, and Lewis Kirschling.

A mass of Christian burial will be held for Elizabeth at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, October 26, 2005, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 442 Monroe Street, Reverend Robert Stegmann officiating and Sister Judy Miller assisting. A time of visiting and support will be held at the church from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the mass. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Mary Catholic Church or the Boys and Girls Club.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Arborview Manor and Evergreen Creekview Household One, for their care of Elizabeth.
