Obituary

Elizabeth “Betty” Louise Schuster, 94, died peacefully on Tuesday, February 17, 2026. Betty was born on June 9, 1931, in the town of Rushford, the daughter of Otto Fiegel and Margaret (Davel) Fiegel. She attended and graduated from Omro High School in 1949 and after married Donald Schuster, the love of her life, on October 29, 1949 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Omro.

Betty worked at Ripon Good Cookies until the birth of their first child. After raising her family and helping Don on the farm, Betty worked at Piggly Wiggly in Omro for over 20 years until retirement in 1996. In her retirement she worked at Carol’s Collectibles and Gifts in Omro and Michels Embroidery in Winneconne. Betty liked collecting antiques from estate and rummage sales and enjoyed shopping. She will be remembered for her kindness and thoughtfulness.

Betty is loved and will be missed by her children, Brenda (James) Shea, Michael Schuster and Sandra (Larry) Remer all of Omro; grandchildren, Tara (Josh) Olk, Leah (Andrew) Stanczyk, Logan (Grace McCauley) Shea, Jenny (Matthew) Shattuck, Byron (Cora) Schuster, Jonathan (Melissa) Schuster, Amber (Kyle) Ankenbauer, Jackson (Jaime) Remer and Emma Remer; great-grandchildren, Shea and Finley Olk, August and Edison Stanczyk, Emile McCauley, Brayden, Tyler, Wyatt and Joslyn Shattuck, Elsie and Walter Schuster, Maverick and Layla Schuster, Henry and Nolan Ankenbauer and Jasper Remer; brother-in-law, Larry (Judy) Schuster; special niece, Kathy (John) Aron; several relatives and many friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald Byron; brother, Robert (Shirley) Fiegel; sister, Caroline (Oscar “Bud”) Trittin; brothers-in-law, Francis (Beverly) Schuster and Robert Schuster; sister-in-law, Kathryn (Tom) Thompson; and great-grandchild, Violet Elizabeth Stanczyk.

In respect to Betty’s memory, the family will greet relatives and friends on Monday, February 23, 2026, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 730 Madison Street, Omro, from 9AM-11AM. A mass of Christian burial will be at 11AM at church. Burial will be at Waukau Cemetery, next to her husband.
