Ellen Van Ornum, age 89, died early Monday morning, August 16, 2010, at the American House in Berlin. Ellen was born May 31, 1921 in Laona, WI, the daughter of Maurice and Francesca Hanson. She grew up in the Laona area and later married Morgan Van Ornum on April 13, 1942 in Merrill, WI. In 1946, they moved to Berlin, where they raised their family. In addition to her family, Ellen enjoyed making lawn ornaments.
Ellen is loved and will be missed by her children, Daniel "Butch" (Evon), Donald "Skip" (Debbie), Vikki (Keith) Van Buren; grandchildren, Tammi, Kim, Nicole, Renee, Torria and Corbin; six great grandchildren; brother, Gilbert (Dale) Hanson; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Maurice and Francesca Hanson; husband, Morgan D. Van Ornum; sister, Edith Hanson; brothers, Elmer Hanson and Lewis Hanson; granddaughter, Kristin Van Ornum and great grandson, Morgan Van Ornum.
The family would like to thank the staff's at the American House and Agnesian Hospice for the excellent care and support given to Ellen and the rest of her family.
Private family services are being held. Ellen will be laid to rest in the Ostrander-Northport Cemetery.
