Elna E. Beduhn, age 103, passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2009 at Bethel Home. Born on March 17, 1906, in the Township of Eldorado, to August and Hulda (Manthei) Hinz Sr., Elna married Carl M. Beduhn on June 17, 1924. Together they were well-known area dairy farmers for many years and they enjoyed belonging to the Model T Car Club. Carl preceded Elna in death on December 13, 1971.


A long-time member of St. John Lutheran Church of Nekemi and the St. John Lutheran Church Women, Elna also was a member of Bethel Home Auxiliary and Senior Saints. She especially enjoyed traveling, card playing, time spent with her family and her "get-togethers" with her niece, Pearl Scheller.


Left to mourn her passing are two daughters, Char Kinderman and Donna Schettl; five grandchildren, Jim Kinderman, Terry (Kim) Kinderman, Lynn (Dick) Thill, Ginger Averkamp, and Vickie (John) Dettmann; ten great-grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren. Preceding Elna in death are her husband, parents, and her four brothers, Aldor, August, George, and Carl Hinz.


Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at 12 Noon in St. John Lutheran Church of Nekemi, with Reverend James Reiff officiating. Elna will be laid to rest next to Carl in St. John Lutheran Cemetery. A time of visitation and sharing of memories will be held at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until 12 Noon.
