Elnora "Ellie" (Becker) De Bruin, age 100, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2024, in Neenah, Wisconsin. She was born to parents, August and Frances (Eichhorst) Becker on December 7, 1923, in Wisconsin.
Ellie grew up on her family farm with her parents, sister and brother. For many years, there was no electricity or running water. It wasn't until after she married the love of her life, Marvin J. De Bruin, and married on August 19, 1944, that the farm was modernized.
She often talked about being able to live at a time that was full of exciting endeavors. She watched as the first man landed on the moon. This excitement later sparked an interest in her grandson, who ended up being involved in many space programs and discoveries as well.
Ellie enjoyed reading, flower gardening and crocheting blankets, doilies and many projects for her family and friends. She will be remembered for her kindness, loving and extraordinary heart. Not to mention her humor and quick wit.
She is survived by her four children, David (Karen) De Bruin, James (Sheila) De Bruin, Kathryn (Keith) Butkiewicz and Richard De Bruin; grandchildren, Christopher (Heather) Butkiewicz, Michael De Bruin, Robert De Bruin, Troy (Kay) De Bruin and Kevin De Bruin; great-grandchildren, Zachary Meitner, Emily De Bruin, Tristin Butkiewicz, Kalista Butkiewicz and Gerek De Bruin; brother, Eugene Becker; and several cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Marvin J. De Bruin; parents, August and Frances (Eichhorst) Becker; sister, Selma Becker; and several other family members.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 7, 2024, at Seefeld Funeral Home, 1025 Oregon St., Oshkosh, Wisconsin, from 12:00pm to 2:00pm, with service to immediately follow. Her final resting place will be at Lake View Memorial Park Cemetery, 2786 Algoma Blvd., Oshkosh, Wisconsin, alongside her husband.
The family would like to thank the staff on the 5 South Wing of ThedaCare Neenah Hospital as well as the staff at Bella Vista for taking such good care of her. Your kindness did not go unnoticed.
