Elsie McHugh Stapleton, age 86, of Omro, died peacefully Thursday afternoon, November 30, 2006 at the Omro Care Center. She was born December 14, 2006 in Dayton, Ohio, the daughter of Garrett and Mary Frances (Staton) Minton. Her number one pride and joy was her family and spending time with them. They fondly remember how she enjoyed gardening, baking, and crossword puzzles. Elsie also took great pride in crocheting and making quilts, which she often would give to members of her family.
Elsie is loved and will be deeply missed by children, Marlena (Wallace) Blochwitz of Neenah, John McHugh of Oshkosh, Joey Stiller of Omro, Bonnie (Dave) Gauvin of Cascade, Montana, Maxine (Ken) Macheel of Randolph, WI and Michael McHugh of Redgranite. Other survivors include her 21 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, great great grandchildren, her sister, Ethel Spencer of Omro and her three children; special friend, Larry Larsen, other relatives and friends. Elsie was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, John McHugh and Clay Stapleton; daughter in law, Margaret McHugh; and brother in law, Zach Spencer.
Private family services were held at the Omro Funeral Home on Saturday morning. A memorial is being established in her name.
