Obituary

Engman "Dave" Herman passed away on Saturday, November 8, 2008. He was born on March 6, 1930 the son of Frank and Minnie (Becker) Herman. He graduated from Middleton High School and also Madison Business College. He joined the U.S. Navy and served two years. He was a life member of the D.A.V.

Dave married Orra "Odie" Roberts and the moved to Oshkosh where he started working at Continental Baking Company (Wonder Bread). He worked at UW- Oshkosh for 35 years and was a supporter of UW-Oshkosh sports. He also supported the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Cubs. Along with Jerry Krueger, he coached Junior Babe Ruth baseball for 10 years.

Dave was a long time member of Wesley United Methodist Church and was head of an ushering team. He volunteered at the Ecumenical Food Pantry from 1993 until he was no longer able.

Survivors include one son, Kevin (Linda) Herman of Omro and one granddaughter, Heather Herman of Omro. He is further survived by special nieces: Sandra Herlache of River Ridge, Louisiana, Pat Corder and Nancy Goff of Charlotte, Iowa; special nephews: Gary Herman of Green Bay, Charles Herman of Appleton, and Steve Herman of Deforest; and sister-in-law, Ruth Herman of Green Bay. He was preceded in death by his wife; one son, Keith; his parents; five brothers; and one sister.

Funeral services for Dave will be held at 6:00 P.M. on Wednesday, November 12, 2008, at Wesley United Methodist Church, 761 Florida Avenue, with Reverend Jean Schmidt officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather and share support at the church on Wednesday from 4:00 P.M. until the time of the service. Interment will be in Omro Cemetery.
