Obituary

Esther Susan Grine, 98, of Oshkosh, Wisconsin passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at Evergreen Retirement Community. She was born to Frederick and Edith Koedel on November 20, 1913 at Tarentum, Pennsylvania. She married Charles F. Grine on April 21, 1941. She and Charles celebrated 55 years of shared joys and challenges.
Esther was a loving mother who worked in the home, establishing many long-term friendships through her peripatetic life in Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Michigan, Ohio, North Carolina and Wisconsin. After her husband's death, she enjoyed thirteen years as a resident in her condominium at Evergreen Village, participating as a manager of the Manor Mart Resale Shop, enthusiastically supporting the Oshkosh Symphony and enjoying social life in the Village and Oshkosh community. Esther was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Neenah.
She is survived by son, James (Geraldine) Grine; grandchildren, Yukiko (Emily) and Miyoko Grine-Fisher (Andrew); a great-grandchild, Hanako Lily Wertanen-Grine; and many nieces and nephews.
Esther was predeceased by her husband Charles; her daughter, Leslie Grine; sister Ruth Hoak; and brothers, Paul and Frederick Koedel.
A memorial service will be held at Evergreen Retirement Community at a later date. Inurnment will be at Mount Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights, Pennsylvania. The family wishes to thank the medical personnel and staff at Evergreen's Garden Heights for their loving and professional care.
