Obituary

Ethel B. Green, of Oshkosh, age 93, passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2017. She was born in the Township of Casco, WI on October 14, 1923 the daughter of the late Louis and Esther (Witte) Radue. On July 27, 1946 she married her husband of 51 years, James Green. They purchased the family business, Smith Ice Cream, Inc., in 1971. Ethel was the office manager and "Chief Ice Cream Taster." She liked to garden, quilt, travel, and managed an annual bus tour to Shipshewana, Indiana, for 25 years. As an avid Packer fan and season ticket holder, Ethel was proud to have attended and survived the "Ice Bowl." Her church family at First English was a big part of her social life. Ethel will be remembered for the love she had for her family and her gregarious personality.
Ethel is survived by her daughter, Kathleen (Brookfield, WI); daughter-in-law Joyce (Longmont, CO); grandchildren: Megan (Oshkosh, WI), Cable (Sarah) (Brookfield, WI), Rachel (Minneapolis, MN), Emily (Jason) (Oshkosh, WI), Jeffrey (Lynda) (Dayton, WY), Susan (Gerald) (Yreka, CA), James (Boulder, CO), Mark (Phoenix, AZ), Mary (Michael) (Seattle, WA), Katherine (Longmont, CO), and Barbara (Laguna Beach, CA); 23 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, James; sons: William and Lawrence; her parents; brother, Frank; son-in-law, Jon; daughter-in-law, Sue Ann; and 17 brothers-and sisters-in-law.
A visitation will be at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 6, 2017. An additional visitation will be at the church on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. at FIRST ENGLISH LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1013 Minnesota St., Oshkosh, with Rev. Tim Greenwald and Rev. Martin Ruge officiating. Private burial will be in Lakeview Memorial Park, Oshkosh.
A memorial fund in Ethel's name is being established for First English Church Women.
