Obituary

Eugene "Gene" Krumenauer, age 89, of Oshkosh, died Monday morning, December 14, 2009 at Gabriel's Villa. Born on June 16, 1920, the youngest child of Charles and Martha (Marks) Krumenauer, Gene grew up in Oshkosh and Milwaukee. A sheet metal worker before enlisting in the U.S. Air Corps, Gene served three and a half years with the 43rd Air Depot of the Ninth Air Corps in England and Europe. He was awarded the Bronze Star for his modification of the landing gear for the A26. After arriving home after the war, Gene continued his work at Teela Zentner, eventually purchasing it with his business partner, Jerry Ristow. Gene retired from Gartman Heating in 1982. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, where he was an usher for 30 years, and a member of Sheet Metal Workers Local #18. From 1977 to 1987, Gene was the Secretary for the Town of Algoma Sanitary District.


On Valentine's Day, February 14, 1953, Gene married the love of his life, Margaret Rose Schneider. Together, they shared 53 years of love, laughter, family, friends, fishing, and card playing. They were a loving , generous, aunt and uncle to many nieces and nephews, with the fun continuing into the last years of their lives. Gene was an extraordinary man who enjoyed everyday life and activities.


Gene leaves behind a sister, Florence Hamilton; a sister-in-law, Ruth Krumenauer; a special niece, Bonnie Broderick; and many other nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceding Gene in death are his wife, Margaret, on July 31, 2006; an unborn child; three brothers, Kenneth, Carlton, and Mark; and a sister, Naomi.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 2, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in Most Blessed Sacrament Parish (St. Peter site), 435 High Avenue, with Reverend James Jugenheimer officiating. Inurnment will be at Calvary Cemetery. A time of visiting and sharing of memories will be held on Saturday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church.
