Eugene Donald "Gene" Wilson, age 73, of Oshkosh, passed away after a lengthy illness on Monday evening, July 19, 2004 at the Wisconsin Veteran s Home in King, Wisconsin. He was born on December 7, 1931 in Oshkosh, a son of the late Alfred and Ella (Lueptow) Wilson. Gene married the former Wilma Irene Kromm on August 26, 1950 in Oshkosh.
He served his country in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. Gene had worked for over 35 years and retired from Elmer Kranzusch Inc. Painting and Decorating. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and greatly enjoyed hunting, fishing and cribbage.
He is survived by his wife Wilma of 53 years; a son, Donald (Jane) Wilson of Tacoma, Washington; a daughter, Patti Ann Wilson of Oshkosh; a granddaughter, Sarah Bess (Darrin) Wilson-Anderson of Oshkosh; a step-grandson, Tim (Caroline) Brown; a step-great-grandson, Jason Brown, both of Tacoma, Washington; a brother, Wesley Wilson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; a sister, Ferne Langlitz of Oshkosh. He is further survived by other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Nyla Macho.
Funeral services for Gene will be held on Thursday, July 22, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the Seefeld Family of Funeral Chapels, 300 N. Eagle Street with the Reverend Gerald Nerenhausen officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral chapel on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. Interment with full military honors by the United Veterans Honor Guard will be in Lake View Memorial Park Cemetery.
