Obituary

Eugene R. Ziemer
(April 7, 1930 – January 13, 2015)
Eugene (Gene) "Zip" Ziemer, age 84, of Oshkosh, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, January 13, 2015. Born on April 7, 1930, the second son of the late Harvey and Mildred Ziemer, he was a lifelong resident of Oshkosh.
He served in the US Navy from 1950 to 1954 during the Korean War on a sub tender and the USS McKean. He married Lillie Holland on April 21, 1956. She preceded him in death on May 30, 2008. He was a skilled carpenter and was a 55 year member of the Carpenters Local 955.

An avid hunter and fisherman, his free time was spent chasing white tail deer, pheasants, partridge trout, perch and walleye.
Ever the carpenter, he designed and built 4 homes, maintained two rental properties and was always willing and able to come help family do anything that needed to be done.
He loved animals, and was happiest spoiling his own and his family's pets. The favorite days was his daily visit to 'the barn' at K & K Quarter Horse Stable to pamper and spoil not only his soul mate horse, Sonata, as well as the other horses and the barn cats.

Gene is survived by two daughters, Mary (David) Paull of Brown Deer, WI and Linda Kelly of Oshkosh, five grandchildren, Kyle (Amanda) Paull, Megan Kelly, Kelly (Colin) Wilcox, Trevor (Sara) Paull, and Kristen Kelly and great-grandchildren, Hunter and Emma Paull, and Oliver and Graham Wilcox, two brothers, Donal (Ann) of Somis CA and Larry (Linda) of Oakfield WI. He is further survived by nephews, nieces and cousins.

Services for Gene will be held at Seefeld Funeral Home, 1025 Oregon St. Oshkosh on Saturday, January 17. Visitation 1-2 pm. Funeral Service at 2pm. Entombment will be at Lakeview Memorial Park. Memorials honoring Gene's memory may be given to the Oshkosh Area Humane Society (OAHS) or First United Methodist Church (FUMC) Oshkosh.
The family would like to thank the staff at Park View Health Center for the care and support during Gene's rehab following surgery.

"We little knew that morning that God was going to call you home. In life we loved you dearly; in death we do the same. It broke out hearts to lose you; you didn't go alone, for part of us went with you the day God called you home. You left us peaceful memories; your love is still our guide: and though we cannot see you, you are always at our side. Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same, but as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again."
