Evangeline R. "Vange" Greenwald, age 88, of Oshkosh, died on the morning of Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at Bethel Home. She was born on August 3, 1918 in Oshkosh to Erving R. and Eva (Edwards) Lemke. Evangeline met Earl Knaak and they were married on April 2, 1937. He preceded her in death in 1979. Some time later, Evangeline married William Greenwald on March 28, 1992. He too, preceded her in death in 2005.

Evangeline was a member of First Presbyterian Church and was a part of their women's circle. She enjoyed playing cards with her special group of friends, gardening, and spending time at the cottage. Evangeline was a member of the Oshkosh Public Museum Auxiliary. Aside from being a homemaker, she also worked in the dental and interior design professions.

Survivors include her daughter: Karen (Tom) Steele of Wausau, Wisconsin; a son: William (Sue) Knaak of Alpharetta, Georgia; six grandchildren: Paul Steele, Trudy Morice, Benjamin Knaak, Jonathan Knaak, Andrew Knaak, and Kathrine Gaillard. Evangeline is further survived by four great-granchildren: Samuel Knaak, Caterina Morice, Logan Morice, and Imogen Steele. She was preceded in death by her husbands, her parents, and her brother: Richard E. Lemke.

Memorial services for Evangeline will be held this Saturday, March 10, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. at First Presbyterian Church, 110 Church Ave. Reverend Tom Willadsen will be officiating. Friends and neighbors may gather at the church for a time of visitation and support from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Inurnment will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Oshkosh. In lieu of flowers, the family has established a memorial in Evangeline's name to Bethel Home.
