Evelyn "Evie" R. Chase, age 95 of Oshkosh passed away August 23, 2013 at Aurora Medical Center. Evie was born October 10, 1917, in Rock Island, Illinois, to George R and Lydia (Raasch) Roe. She grew up and attended school in Oshkosh, then went on to Theda Clark School of Nursing. She worked as a Dental Assistant in Oshkosh before marrying Charles D. Chase on December 3, 1938 at First Presbyterian Church, Oshkosh. While living in Oshkosh, she was very active in many organizations; among them were her church groups; Chapter AG of the P.E.O; the Visiting Nurses Association; the Ladies Benevolent Society, The American Red Cross; and the Women's Reading Club of Oshkosh. Evie enjoyed all card games, especially Bridge. In 1988, they retired to their vacation home in Rancho Viejo, Texas, where they enjoyed many years of golfing. She had two Holes in One, on the same hole #16.
Evie is survived by her son, Charles Robert (Lynn Cofer-Chase) Chase; grandson, Stew (Bethany); brother in law, Ed Chase, Jr., sister in law, Gladys Vroome; niece, Nancy Roe; nephews, Dennis (Pat) Roe, Stuart Vroome and Noel Roe; several great nieces and nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles; and brothers, Charles and Rexford Roe.
Memorial Services honoring Evie's life will be held on Friday, August 30, 2013, at 2:30 p.m., at Evergreen Chapel, 1130 N. Westfield St., Oshkosh; with Rev. Tom Willadsen officiating. A time of visitation will begin at 2pm until the time of service and a reception will follow the service. Evie will be laid to rest at Lake View Memorial Park. The family is grateful to the staff at Evergreen for the wonderful care she received.
