Faye L. Thys, age 81 of Oshkosh, died at Aurora Medical Center on Friday, December 7, 2007. She was born in Oshkosh to Frank and Ida (Diestler) Phillips on July 2, 1926. She married Lawrence "Larry" E. Thys on October 20, 1945. After 55 years together, Lawrence died on July 10, 2000.
Faye was a member of First English Lutheran Church. She was known to a lot of people as Grandma. Faye was caring, friendly, outgoing, generous, and devoted. She worked for Badger Lumber, Buckstaff, and did child care in her home.
Faye is survived by her daughter, Gail (Wayne) Meyer of Oshkosh; son, Dennis Thys of Oshkosh; grandson, Scott Meyer of Ripon; and many cousins. In addition to her husband, Larry, she was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Virgil.
A funeral service for Faye will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 13, 2007, at Seefeld Family of Funeral Chapels, 1025 Oregon Street, Pastor Nancy Krueger officiating. Family and friends may gather at the funeral chapel to share memories and support on Thursday from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of the 2nd floor of Aurora Medical Center, and the Aurora Visiting Nurses Hospice, for the care given to Faye.
