Fern J. Buskirk, age 88, passed away peacefully in the loving presence of her family on April 20, 2015 at Bethel Home. She was born on April 13, 1927, in Northport, to Melvin and Pearl Ravey. She graduated in May of 1945 from Manawa High School. On October 27, 1945, Fern married Gaylord D. Buskirk in Oshkosh. Together they enjoyed memorable trips to Rhinelander visiting family and other trips to visit relatives. Fern enjoyed gardening, feeding the birds, and woodworking. She loved crocheting Afghans and roses, and crafts of many kinds. At Bethel Home, Fern enjoyed baking, word search, bingo, and was an avid Wii Bowling player on the Bethel League Team. She enjoyed shows like "The Waltons" and "Touched by an Angel." Fern attended Sunday Chapel Service and watched "The Hour of Power" She was the happiest with her family and friends around her. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Fern leaves behind 6 children, Shirlee (Butch) Gorschels of Omro, Ruth Sanders, Edith (Steven) Pascoe, Gary (Paula) Buskirk all of Oshkosh, Sandra (Joe) Buskirk of Omro, David (Lori) Buskirk of Oshkosh; ten grandchildren, Fred, Melissa, Stacy, William, Dawn (Steven),Jennifer, Sherry (Benjamin), Michelle, Daniel, and Amber (Josh); 13 great-grandchildren (with another one expected); and 1 great-great-grandchild (with another one expected). Fern is further survived by two sisters, Marie Gunderson of Appleton and Myrtle (Norbert) Krings of Hawkins; three half-brothers, Jerry, Melvin, and Kenneth; three half-sisters, Judy, Beverly, and Jane; special friends, Vivian, Ethel, Jane, and a very dear niece, Joan; many other dear nieces, nephews, and friends. Preceding Fern in death is her husband, Gaylord, on February 7, 2003, a daughter, Sharon, twin sons, Gaylord and Melvin, grandson, Josh, and a very special friend, Kate. A time of visiting and sharing of memories will be held on Friday, April 24, 2015, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in Bethel Home Chapel, 225 North Eagle Street, Oshkosh. Visitation will also be held at Cline-Hanson Funeral Home in New London on Saturday from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m. where Fern's funeral service will follow the visitation. The family would like to thank the staffs at Bethel Home, Mercy Medical Wound Clinic, and Affinity Hospice for the loving care given to Fern and her family.
