Ferne E. Davis, age 92, of Omro, passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2008, at Omro Care Center. Ferne was born in Omro on January 18, 1916, the daughter of William and Flora (Pinkney) Horne. She married Walter Davis on August 5, 1939 in Oshkosh. Ferne graduated from UW-Oshkosh, and taught school in Omro for a number of years, retiring from the Omro Middle School in 1980. Ferne loved to travel. She enjoyed playing golf and belonged to the Utica Golf League. She was also a member of the Waukau United Methodist Church, and Retired Teachers Association. Ferne was a kind, loving lady and will be missed by all who knew her.

Ferne is survived by her three sons, Merrill (Judy) Davis of Omro, Larry (Candy) Davis of Goose Creek, SC, and Lyle (Patsy) Davis, of Omro; two daughters, Nancy (Mike) Langeberg of Tomahawk and Kathy Davis of Olympia, WA; ten grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter; a grandson, Gerald; sisters, Betty Whiteman, Mabel Zarling and Marjorie Redlin; and her brother, Herbert Horne.

In respect to Ferne's memory, visitation will be held at the Omro Funeral Home on Monday, April 7, 2008, from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 7:00 p.m., with the Rev. Charles Davis officiating. Ferne will be laid to rest in the Waukau Cemetery.
