Florence Billings, age 93, of Oshkosh, died Friday afternoon, December 20, 2013, at Eden Meadows. Born on July 12, 1920, in Oshkosh, Florence married Howard Billings on November 26, 1946. Howard preceded Florence in death on May 27, 1981.
Employed as an accountant, Florence was a long-time employee of Jeffrey's Women's Clothing Store on Main Street in Oshkosh. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Oshkosh where she served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. She enjoyed bowling, card playing, sewing, and was an avid reader.
Left to mourn her passing is a son, Phillip (Elizabeth) Billings of Westport, Wisconsin; two grandsons, Zachary (Karri Metzger) Billings and Alexander (Kristin) Billings; a great-granddaughter, Seneca Reese Billings; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Florence in death is her husband, parents, a sister, Margaret Werdin, and three brothers, Clarence, Theodore, and Eugene Gruse.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, December 26, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. in First Presbyterian Church, 110 Church Ave., with Reverend Thomas Willadsen officiating. Florence's family will greet neighbors and friends following the service. Inurnment will take place at Lake View Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorials in Florence's memory to First Presbyterian Church, Bethel Home, or Mercy Medical Center would be gratefully appreciated.
