Florence G. Owens, age 105 of Oshkosh, died at Bethel Home on Sunday, September 3, 2006. She was born December 3, 1900 to William and Matilda (Lallendorf) Laahs in Clintonville. She lived there for 26 years before coming to Oshkosh. She married Wallace Pride on June 2, 1927 in Clintonville. To this union was born a daughter, Jane Marie who died in infancy. Wallace preceded her in death on November 23, 1965. On July 26, 1969 she married Byron Owens in Oshkosh. He preceded her in death on May 7, 1989.

Florence attended Oshkosh Business College. After college she worked as a reporter, bookkeeper, and proofreader for the Dairyman Gazette, she was called Miss Gazette. She was an active member of First Congregational Church and it's groups and a golden member of AARP.

She was the last survivor of a family of eight children. A niece and a nephew, cousins, and many friends survive her.

Funeral services will be held for Florence at 3:00 P.M. on Thursday, September 7, 2006 at Seefeld Family of Funeral Chapels, 300 North Eagle Street, with Ralph and Carol DiBiasio-Snyder officiating. A time of visitation and support will be held at the funeral chapel on Thursday from 2:00 P.M. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Plummer Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established.
