Franklin H. Schmidt, age 85, of Oshkosh, passed Saturday, June 2, 2012, at Seasons Hospice, Waukesha, Wisconsin. Franklin was born on August 30, 1926, to Charles and Viola (Bauer) Schmidt. He served his country during WWII in the U.S. Marine Corp. He worked as a Millwright at Paine Lumber, and then Rockwell, until he retired. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, and in his later years, he enjoyed driving his car and listening to Polka music.
Franklin is survived by his children, Rod (Mary) Schmidt of Redgranite, Jeffrey Schmidt of Waupaca, Franklin A. (Geri Moore) Schmidt of Mississippi, Carla Schmidt of Oshkosh, Leanne (Bill) Bleecker of Redgranite, Randal Schmidt of Redgranite, and Roxanne (Terry Glasheen) Schmidt of Oshkosh; 19 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren and one on the way; the mother of his children and constant companion, Evelyn Schmidt of Oshkosh; sisters, Carol Bloechl and Vivian (Dan) Gundlach; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandchildren, Amanda Schmidt and Jimmy Jo Bleecker; sisters, Ruth Schmidt and Ruby Schumacher; brother, Harold Schmidt; sister in law, Dorothy Schmidt and brother in law, Ralph Bloechl.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:30 p.m. Franklin will be laid to rest at Lake View Memorial Park.
