Frederick J. Kubasta, age 89, of Oshkosh, died Thursday morning, June 23, 2016, at Northpoint Medical & Rehabilitation Center. Born on February 26, 1927 in Oshkosh the son of Frederick and Ruth (Ruedinger) Kubasta, Fred served his country during WWII with the U.S. Navy.
After his discharge, Fred was employed by Mercury Marine in Fond du Lac as a Service Technician in the Outboard Motor Division for 32 years before his retirement in 1990. He enjoyed go-karting, racing stock cars, dune buggies, and especially woodworking (making Grandfather Clocks for his children and different pieces of furniture).
Survivors include his children, Thomas (Nancy) Kubasta, Sr. of Oshkosh, Lynn (Dan) Sauer of Saxeville, Terry Kunde of Oshkosh, and Sandi (Harvey Jones) Poss of Saxeville; grandchildren, Thomas (Sue) Kubasta, Jr., Troy (Carrie) Kubasta, Craig (Susan) Sauer, Stephanie Arndt, Jennifer (Kevin) Pero, Bill (Cheryl) Merkel, Brad Merkel, and Nicholas Stiebs; great-grandchildren, Cameron, Logan, Evan, Haley, Savannah, Jacob, Lucas, Cory, Miranda, Althea, Coyote, and Vaya; a close friend, June McAdam, and nieces and nephews. Preceding Fred in death are his parents, a brother, James Kubasta, a sister, Beverly DeCarlo, and a former wife, Hazel Kubasta.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 27, 2016, at 1:00 p.m., in Seefeld Funeral Chapels, 1025 Oregon Street, with Pastor John Worzala-Dumke officiating. Interment with Full Military Honors will follow at Lake View Memorial Park. A time of visiting and sharing of memories will held on Monday from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
