Frederick J. Mobsby Jr., age 80, of Oshkosh, died Thursday, February 27, 2014, at Century Oaks in Oshkosh. Born on June 1, 1933, in Hartford, Connecticut, to Frederick and Mary (Viellieux) Mobsby Sr., Fred moved to Nashua, New Hampshire in later years. He was a furniture salesman for many of his working years. On October 16, 1953, in Maryland, Fred married Barbara Ann Landry and Barbara preceded him in death on July 24, 2013.
An Army Reservist for approximately nine years, Fred was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish, hunt, collect guns, and attend turkey shoots. He also enjoyed coin and sports card collecting, photography, and woodworking. Fred was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who loved spending time with his family and dogs. He was a member of St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Parish.
Survivors include his children, Linda (Robert) Matz of Mercer, Wisconsin, Jackie (Mickey) Jones of Pittsfield, New Hampshire, and Bruce (Janice) Mobsby of Derry, New Hampshire; seven grandchildren, Michael Jones Jr., Rebecca Jones, Jennifer, Michelle, and Sarah Mobsby, Ethan and Tori Matz; and a great-granddaughter, Sudhanna Jones.
In keeping with Fred's wishes, private family services are being held. The Mobsby family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the dedicated caregivers from Heartland Hospice and Century Oaks Homes for the care given to their father and grandfather.
