Frieda Mae Berger, loving aunt and friend, passed away on Sunday, May 23, 2004 at Aurora Medical Center. She was born on May 12, 1906 in Oshkosh, a daughter of Conrad and Anna (Umlauf) Buttman. She lived in Oshkosh nearly all of her life, except for three years when she lived in Ripon with her grand-nephew, Wesley and Ruth White and family. Frieda worked at the Oshkosh Dry Cleaners for many years and retired in 1952. She married Frank Berger on May 27, 1950 in Oshkosh. He preceded her in death on February 6, 1981. Frieda was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church for many years.
Survivors include one stepson, Clifford (Bernie) Berger; stepdaughter-in-law, Isabelle Berger of Oshkosh; a niece, Carol (Jack) Deising of Oshkosh; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; many grandnephews and grandnieces; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband; two stepsons, Frank Jr. and Herbert; a stepdaughter, Josephine Ilk; a stepdaughter-in-law, Dorothy Berger; three brothers, John, Hennie and Coney Buttman; a sister, Margaret Havemann; a niece, Betty White and her husband, Cliff White; and her parents. She is also survived by special friend, Kathy Berger of Oshkosh. Frieda loved to go for car rides, play cards, playing nickel slots, and loved Florence's cookies. She will be sadly missed by her pal, Bootsie of Oshkosh.
Funeral services for Frieda will be held on Wednesday, May 26, 2004 at 4 p.m. at the Seefeld Family of Funeral Chapels, 300 N. Eagle Street with the Reverend Joel Olsen officiating.
Family and friends may call at the funeral chapel on Wednesday, from 2 p.m. until the time of services. A memorial fund is being established.
